Skull Knight Ring

Background

A knight had just returned from a quest to search for an ancient relic that was thought of by most to be a mere legend.

As he rode his horse up to the castle gates, he stopped. He leaned down and whispered, "I'm back." The guards at the gate nodded, and one of them opened the heavy door. 

The knight rode into the courtyard and jumped off his horse. He led the horse to the stables and gave it a pat on the neck, then walked to the main entrance of the castle. Inside, he found the king sitting in his throne room.

"Welcome back, my knight," said the king. "How was your quest?"

"It was successful," said the knight. "I've brought you back something that you'll treasure forever." The king's eyes widened as he stood up from his throne, eager to feast his eyes on the powerful relic.

The knight handed it to the king, who eagerly took it in his hands. He marveled at its beauty and then thanked him for his successful quest. The knight went to bed but he couldn't get the relic out of his mind. He had a terrible dream that it would soon bring destruction to the kingdom. 

But when he tried to warn the king, he didn't listen. The king didn't believe the warnings, and thought the dream to be nothing more than the imagination of a wandering, tired mind. Over time it began to bring war and poverty to his kingdom, and in the end, his kingdom was destroyed. 

He had been so foolish to ignore the warnings - if only he had listened, his kingdom might have been saved.
